Sheen Leads North Texas At Kansas Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. (9/15/08) Senior Nathan Sheen was the steady force for the North Texas men’s golf team in the opening round of the Kansas Invitational . Sheen fired a one-over par 145 in the first two rounds and is alone in ninth place heading into the final day.

Sheen played a very smart two rounds of golf, notching 27 pars in 36 holes, the second most in the field.

The Mean Green as a team is alone in ninth place in a deep field of 16 teams.  North Texas shot a first round of 297 and fell back just a bit in the second round with a 300. South Dakota State leads the way with a two round score of 579.

Clarke Kincaid was just three shots behind Sheen as he fired back-to-back rounds of 74. He is tied for 23rd place. Senior Harris Graham posted a 1-over par 73 in the first round en route to a 150. Lance Byars and Michel Lee had difficult two difficult rounds. Byars shot a 158 and Lee a 159.

The final round of the Kansas Invitational starts tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
