Mean Green Shoot Best Round At Aggie Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas The No. 33 North Texas men’s golf team shot its best round of the tournament with a third round of 2-over par 290 at the Aggie Invitational. The Mean Green began the day in a tie for 11th with No. 45 Texas Tech, but they moved past the Red Raiders in the final round to finish in 11th place.
The field featured 12 teams ranked in the top-50 and No. 2 Alabama captured the team title by running away from the field and winning by 18 strokes.
Carlos Ortiz shot the only under-par score of the tournament for North Texas in the third round. Ortiz was 2-under par as he played mistake free golf with two birdies and 16 pars on the day. He climbed into a tie for 40th place. Curtis Donahoe had the best finish of the invite for the Mean Green despite a 3-over par 75 in the final round. Donahoe finished in tie for 36th place.
Rodolfo Cazaubon and Gonzalo Rubio both finished tied for 45th place. Cazaubon posted a third round of 1-over par 73 while Rubio was even-par for the day with a 72.
Jason Roets carded a final round of 76 and Marco Scarola, playing as an individual, shot a third round of 74.
North Texas has one final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship as they play in the Morris Intercollegiate April 13-14.
