Lindgren And Broussard Pace North Texas At The Louisiana Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. (3/6/06) Two North Texas men’s golfers fired opening rounds of 1-under par to lead the Mean Green at the first day of the Louisiana Classic from the Oakbourne Country Club.

 

Senior Jason Lindgren and Anthony Broussard both had opening rounds of 71. Freshman Harris Graham shot an even-par round of 72 and Austin Welch fired a 1-over par 73 in the first round.

 

North Texas as a team posted the second best round of the season with a first round score 1-under par 287.

 

The Mean Green struggled in the second round posting a score of 305 and sit in 12th after the opening day.

 

“We played really well in the first round but just didn’t come out with the same consistency in the second round that we needed to,” said Mean Green head coach Jim Bob Jackson.

 

Welch leads North Texas individually with a two-round score of 146 and is tied for 41st place. Broussard is two shots behind Welch at 148 after the first day while Lindgren shot a two-round score of 150. Graham posted a score of 151 while Raul Lemus shot a two-round score of 153.

 

The final round of the Louisiana Classic begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
