Listen/Watch To the North Texas/Middle Tennessee Game Tonight

MURFREESBORO, TN (9/10/05) - North Texas (0-0) opens the 2005 Sun Belt schedule at Middle Tennesse (0-1). Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The game is part of the Sun Belt TV package on the ESPN Regional Network and will air locally on KFWD Channel 52. The game is also available on ESPN Gameplan and can be heard on KWRD 100.7 FM (Dallas/Fort Worth), KPXI 100.7 FM (Tyler/Longview), KAFR 88.3 FM (Houston) and KNTU 88.1 FM (Denton).

North Texas returns nine starters from a team that went 7-5 and won its fourth straight Sun Belt Conference championship. The Mean Green has also played in four straight bowl games. Middle Tennessee returns eight starters to last season’s 15th ranked passing attack in the country. The Blue Raiders opened the season with a 26-7 loss at Alabama.

The Mean Green holds a 4-0 edge all-time over the Blue Raiders, with two of the games decided by less than a touchdown. The first meeting was 24-21 win in Denton that decided the conference crown in 2001. The Mean Green swept the next two in Murfreesboro in 2002 (30-20) and 2003 (33-28). Last season North Texas won 30-21 at Fouts Field. Interestingly, the Mean Green holds a 16-0 edge in quarterback sacks in the four-game series.
