Dodge And Robertson Named SBC Players Of The Week

DENTON, Texas (9/7/09) - Riley Dodge and Craig Robertson have been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their efforts in leading the Mean Green to a 20-10 season opening win at Ball State. It's the first time that North Texas has had multiple players of the week since the opening game of the 2005 season when Patrick Cobbs and Maurice Holman took home the honors.

In his first collegiate start at quarterback, Dodge led North Texas to a 20-10 win at Ball State by completing 23-of-33 passes for 216 yards with one touchdown and one interception.  Dodge was also the team's second-leading rusher with 73 yards on 12 carries for an average of 6.1 yards per carry.

Dodge's 289 yards was a big part of the team's 512 yards of total offense in the victory.  Dodge was critical in helping North Texas to the win, which broke a 14-game home winning streak for Ball State.

Robertson led the Mean Green defense with a career-high 12 tackles, including two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.  Robertson's fumble recovery in the fourth quarter helped set up a field goal that solidified the victory.

Robertson led the defense in holding Ball State to just 309 yards of total offense which was fewer yards than the Cardinals had in any of their 12 regular season games last year.  Robertson also had one pass breakup in the win.

North Texas is home this weekend to face the Ohio Bobcats as they look for their first 2-0 start to the season since 1994.
