DENTON, Texas (8/30/12) - North Texas football head coach Dan McCarney brought in two more influential figures to speak with his football team on Wednesday.

Over the course of the summer camp, a few of McCarney's former Iowa State players, North Texas president Dr. V. Lane Rawlins and New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton have given pep talks to the current Mean Green players. On Wednesday, North Texas basketball coaches Tony Benford and Mike Petersen had the opportunity to get the players excited before their first game against the LSU Tigers on Saturday.

The point of view was different from each guest, but the overall message had one thing in common. Benford and Petersen both reiterated to the football team that it has tremendous support from a fan base that believes in the Mean Green.

North Texas and LSU go head-to-head on Saturday at 6 p.m.
