VIDEO: Zach Orr Speaks At The Salvation Army of Denton County

May 19, 2017

Former North Texas and NFL player Zach Orr and Fox 4 sports director Mike Doocy were recently the keynote speakers to the Salvation Army of Denton County. The message was one about overcoming adversity, where Orr told of his personal triumph after learning he would have to retire from the NFL at the age of just 24. Orr was made aware of a congenital spine condition that he has had since birth, but just found out about following an injury he suffered in the 16th game of the 2016 season.

Orr was an all-conference player at North Texas, finishing his historic career by leading his team to a win in the 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl. He finished as the fifth all-time leading tackler in school history and was a three-time captain. He earned All-Pro recognition after leading the Baltimore Ravens in tackles in 2016.
