Constitution Day celebrates the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. This year, the University of North Texas is looking at the constitutionality of a new Texas law, Senate Bill 4 (SB 4,) that goes into effect on September 1, 2017. This is a forum style discussion featuring Texas House Representative Ramon Romero, who argued vigorously against SB4, and Texas House Representative Lynn Stucky, who is a strong supporter of the new law.
This event will be live-streamed in Willis Library.
Date: Thursday, September 14th
Time: 11:00 am to 12:30pm
Location: Room 250H, 2nd floor of Willis Library
Students will be able to ask the speakers questions via Twitter using hashtags #UNT #Constitution Day. U.S. Pocket Constitutions will be available at the event or you can visit the Eagle Commons Library in Sycamore Hall to receive a copy. Thank you to Paws Across Texas for bringing Pet Therapy Dogs to UNT Willis Library from 2-4pm on May 9, 1017. Over 300 people signed in to see these cute and helpful pups during the stressful time that is Finals Week!
In February, a welcome message with a custom banner and display was posted on the library website, on the ads and Twitter.

The second of our two 2016 finals events was Coffee and Cookies. Volunteers included the advisors and members of the Student Library Advisory Boards (SLAB),This year, the event was co-sponsored by the UNT Graduate Student Council (GSC) who, coordinated by Graduate SLAB member Giselle, provided a couple of volunteers, granola bars and GSC branded supplies.

The first of our two 2016 finals events was Paws and Relax pet therapy dogs courtesy of Paws Across Texas. The event was sponsored by the Student Library Advisory Boards (SLAB), and volunteers included the advisors and members of the boards. We not only had hundreds of students stop by, but saw UNT faculty and staff enjoying the event as well!
