Capital Campaign: International Exposure and Study Abroad

A goal of the College of Business is for at least 50 percent of business majors to have an international experience, whether a short-term study abroad, a semester abroad, an international dual degree, or an international internship. Business is global; and if the UNT College of Business is to produce business leaders, its graduates must have gained an international outlook. Indeed, to become a nationally recognized leader in business education, the College of Business must internationalize its programs, its faculty and its students. Support in the form of a $12 million gift for endowed scholarships will allow students these opportunities. For this purpose, a gift of $500,000 or more may be matched by funds from a recent gift of $5 million that supports international experiences.

Areas of Impact

International Study Abroad/Internships

The College desires for students to be exposed to global business opportunities that deepen their real-world understanding of their classroom education. With travel costs being the main deterrent keeping students from participating in summer and winter break study abroad opportunities, we would offer $2,000 scholarships per year for 200 undergraduate and graduate students to minimize travel expenses. Endowment:
$10,000,000
Annual Support: $400,000

International Semester Abroad/Dual Degree

The University of North Texas has established partnerships with several international universities allowing students opportunities to gain an international perspective. These institutions include, among others; Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, France; Hanyang Univeristy in Seoul, Korea; Mahidol University College of Management in Bangkok, Thailand; NIDA Business School in Bangkok, Thailand; Monterrey Tech in Monterrey, Mexico; and the Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Leipzig, Germany. 20 Scholarships of $4,000 would provide funding to study at these institutions.
Endowment: $2,000,000
Annual Support: $80,000
