“I’m an artist. I make music and I’m a visual artist in CVAD. I like drawing, doing graphic design, and fashion design. I don’t have a specific favorite medium of art, all of it touches me differently. For me, art is healing. Music and drawing heals me. When I need to express myself, I write and create. In a broader sense, art tells a story. If you want to learn about any point in history, just look at the art that was created. The significance of art is that it’s a way of te...lling stories. I can share my story as a black woman through my art. Black women in the arts is so important. We need that representation, we need a space to tell our stories and express ourselves. Sometimes art is the only space where we can be controversial or make a statement. Saying it can cause people to either not listen or argue, but making people experience it through art can make them think about it. Being black in a predominately white environment can be challenging, but it happens. It comes with the territory, but I don’t let that stop me. I believe in being ‘undeniable’. At the end of the day, you want to be so good at what you do that people can’t deny your talent, regardless of your race or sex. Everyone should aim to be undeniable.” #HumansofUNT
