Creating Scholarships

Broadening Your LegacyThere is no more loving way to honor a person or a person's memory than by naming a scholarship for him or her.

UNT scholarships provide financial support for students, and also serve as a permanent reminder of someone whom you wish to recognize. With your help, a deserving student can attend UNT with the establishment of a new scholarship or by your donation to an existing scholarship.  These donations help the hundreds of students who are willing to work hard to get an education, but who cannot bear the financial burden.

A current investment of funds will benefit students for decades to come.

Permanent scholarships, called endowments or endowed scholarships, require a donation of at least $25,000, which may be accumulated over a five year period. Scholarships may be designated to benefit students from a particular major, with a certain GPA, or within a College of Education classification.

For example, children can honor their parents by establishing a scholarship in their parents' names. Students, in appreciation for guidance and support, can donate to scholarships named in honor of esteemed faculty members.
