WASHINGTON, DC - North Texas men's basketball had a tough shooting night leading to a 75-63 road loss at Georgetown Wednesday night at Capital One Arena.

Sophomore guard Ryan Woolridge was terrific coming just short of a triple with 20 points, seven rebounds and tied his career-high with nine assists. Woolridge has scored 20 points in back-to-back games.

"Ryan Woolridge was tremendous tonight and I should have kept the ball in his hands more," head coach Grant McCasland said. "I thought Ryan orchestrated the game about as well as we can get. If we hit more shots he probably ends up with 15 assists."

Senior forward Shane Temara secured his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Temara also went 4-for-7 from the three-point line in the loss.

Georgetown caused a lot of problems for the Mean Green (7-6) because of their length resulting in 12 blocks. Jessie Govan had five blocks and three other players ended up for three apiece. The Hoyas also outrebounded North Texas 46-to-38 with 14 offensive rebounds.

Woolridge came out in the second half with back-to-back layups to put North Texas ahead 37-34. The Mean Green increased their lead to 40-36 off a three-pointer from Temara.

The Hoyas kept getting in the paint off turnovers from North Texas leading to a 9-2 run to go up 50-44 with 11:46 remaining. Georgetown would balloon its lead to 12 points at 70-58 with 2:26 left.

The Mean Green kept battling after a jumper from sophomore A.J. Lawson cut the advantage to eight points at 71-63. The Hoyas held on for the 75-63 victory in the final non-conference game of the season.

North Texas finished the game with 15 turnovers and Georgetown scored 18 points off those miscues.

"In the second half, what really separated us in the game was how we turned it over leading to transition points for Georgetown," McCasland said.

In the first half, North Texas controlled most of the play but Georgetown ended the half on a 5-0 run to take a one-point lead into the locker room. Woolridge lead the Mean Green with eight points and six assists. Junior Jorden Duffy added five points in his return and Allante Holston had six first-half points.

A couple of early three-pointers gave North Texas a 6-4 lead after makes by senior Shane Temara and sophomore Roosevelt Smart. The Hoya built a 10-8 lead on a layup by Jonathan Mulmore with 16:22 remaining.

The Mean Green responded with an 8-0 run off back-to-back layups from Woolridge, including a steal off the inbounds to force a Georgetown timeout. North Texas would lead by seven points off a jumper by Duffy at the 10:24 mark.

The Hoyas would get within one-point at 28-27 off two free throws from Jessie Govan. Georgetown took a one-point lead at 29-28 but the Mean Green regained the lead off a tip-in from Temara.

The first half saw four ties and eight lead changes with North Texas holding the lead for 14 of the 20 minutes.
