Academic Advising
Academic Advising is an educational process that facilitates students’ understanding of the meaning and purpose of higher education and fosters their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and life-long learning. Advisors evaluate students’ transcript, help students transfer credits for prior coursework, set class schedule, prepare degree plans, and track progress toward degree completion. Academic Support Services helps students become more effective and efficient learners by developing their skills, behaviors, and attitudes that allow them to achieve academic success. Academic Support Services Include: Testing and Placement, supplemental instruction through the Learning Center (such as Writing and Math Labs and tutorial support for courses), and academic coaching.
