Dear friends,
It’s with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Dr. Phil Sweany. Phil was a valued member of the college and UNT Computer Science and Engineering for over 15 years and was instrumental in computer science becoming part of the Teach North Texas program and in training UNT computer science and information technology majors in K-12 education. A memorial service will be held at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano. Details about a memorial service at the UNT Chapel will be announced later this week.

Watch live as we break ground on the new biomedical engineering building.
Windy weather permitting, we’ll be going live for the Biomedical Engineering Building groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m.
Join us tomorrow as we break ground on the new Biomedical Engineering building! The 26,250-square-foot building will feature two large research labs, three teaching labs, and three classrooms.
Did someone say PUPPIES?! Yesterday, a few of our favorite four-legged friends stopped by for a bit of pre-Spring Break stress relief. What a PAWSitively good time!
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Sophomore Mechanical and Energy Engineering student Danielle Da Costa loves giving back. So much so, in fact, that she has volunteered for organizations and events all across the university and city. "There are so many opportunities to give back to our community, being a helping hand just feels right," said Danielle. "We have to be the change we want to see in the world, and the best way to start is by volunteering. Even the smallest of good deeds create im...pact. And with a positive mindset anything is possible."
Danielle’s recent volunteer opportunities include: UNT’s Make a Difference Day, Merit Day, The Big Event, and Fall and Spring Previews • Keep Denton Beautiful • Garden Workday at Denia Wildflower Garden • Seeding Day at Elm fork Pollinative Prairie at DP • Denton Honey Run • Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center • Little Elm Library
Thanks for all you do, Danielle! You’re an inspiration; you make us #UNTProud! 💚
Would you rather program a robot or fly a drone? Those who are young and young-at-heart were given the chance to do BOTH at last Saturday's Denton Mini Maker Faire. Take a look.
