The UNT Department of Physics offers Master's and Doctoral degree programs. Applications for admission and Teaching Assistantships are accepted anytime and involve a two-step process.
Step 1 of the Application Process:
We expect to give you quick (within one to two weeks) and fairly accurate feedback on admission and teaching assistantship possibilities if you fill out the following form:
The form contains the Departmental Acceptance Criteria for Gradate Studies and the Departmental Application for Graduate Studies.
Step 2 of the Application Process:
After you receive positive feedback from us on admission and teaching assistantship opportunities (Step 1), you complete the Graduate School application.
The department might request that letters of recommendation be sent to the coordinator. Two letters of recommendation are typically required if you apply for and are being considered for a Teaching Assistantship; the letters are typically expected to be from former professors. Free-form recommendation letters are acceptable. Alternatively, our fillable form can be used.
Application Deadline:
The department has no specific deadlines for receiving applications for admission and teaching assistantships. Along with paid teaching assistantship positions, the department has a limited number of scholarships that will provide supplemental support. To receive full condisderation for such scholarships, Step 1 of the application process should be completed by March 1 for Fall semester admission.
International Students:
If you received or will receive a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree from an institution located outside of the United States, and if you are not a permanent resident or U.S. citizen; there are deadlines that need to be followed to increase your chance of I-20 processing, if admitted.
- October 15 for the following Spring enrollment
- January 1 for the following Summer enrollment
- April 1 for the following Fall enrollment
