The Applied Arts and Sciences Unit of New College awards the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (B.A.A.S.) Degree. This degree program is highly individualized, with each student working directly with an advisor to build upon prior credits in creating a degree program. The advisor will help with student to maximize the academic credits transferred and to prepare for future educational and career goals.
The B.A.A.S. degree consists of 120 total credit hours, of which at least 36 must be upper level (3000 or 4000 numbered) and at least 30 completed at UNT. The program offers many fully online courses as well courses taught in Denton, in Frisco, at the Collin Higher Education Center and elsewhere.
In working with the advisor, students use a combination of transfer credits, military credits, and UNT courses to complete the following components of the B.A.A.S. degree:
- University core curriculum (42 credit hours)
- See catalog.unt.edu for a full listing of core courses.
- Many B.A.A.S. students transfer in core courses, sometimes the entire core.
