The College of Information's Department of Linguistics at the University of North Texas will be offering a new summer camp for middle school and high school students. The camp will provide an overview of language science through hands-on activities, engaging guest speakers, interactive field trips and fun capstone projects. Students will explore the wonders of languages and cultures around the world, create dictionaries and phrasebooks of invented languages in pop culture, conduct fieldwork on American English dialects and use acoustic software to analyze speech. Add-on options, such as early drop-off and after-campus activities, are also available.
There will be four different camps offered:
Language Explorer Camp - UNT Denton campus: July 9 – 13 and 16-20
Language Explorer Camp - UNT Frisco campus: July 23 – 27 and July 30-August 3
Each camp is capped at 15 students and the registration deadline is July 2, 2018. Registration is offered online.
