Why is NSO (New Student Orientation) required?
Orientation is required in order to provide all new Jaguars with information about being a successful college student at UNT Dallas. You will learn specifics about the University’s academic requirements and all the campus resources available to you.
Even if you have attended another college or university before, you will be required to attend NSO. Our NSO is designed to help you navigate UNT Dallas and understand the resources available for your success.
I was admitted for Summer 2018, will I still need to attend NSO?
Yes, all new Jaguars are required to attend an NSO prior to starting their first semester at UNT Dallas.
I was admitted Spring 2018, attended NSO but did not enroll, do I still need to attend a NSO for Summer or Fall 2018?
If you were re-admitted for Summer or Fall 2018 but attended an NSO after being admitted for Spring 2018, you do not need to register for orientation. Once you receive your acceptance notification, contact Academic Advising to schedule your individual advising appointment at advising@untdallas.edu or (972) 338-1645.
I plan to attend in the Spring, when do I attend NSO?
NSO for Spring students is traditionally held in the months of December and January leading up to the beginning of each Spring semester.
How do I request any required accommodations?
In order to provide you with the best possible NSO experience, please contact the Office of New Student Orientation at 972-780-3642 or orientation@untdallas.edu to request any needed accommodations at least one week prior to your scheduled NSO.
How do I register for NSO?
1. Login at https://my.untdallas.edu with your EUID and password.
2. Click “Student Center”.
3. Click “Register for UNTD Orientation”.
4. Select the NSO that fits within your schedule and click “save”.
Will I receive confirmation once I have registered for NSO?
Yes, you will receive a confirmation to your my.untdallas.edu and/or personal email address you supplied on your ApplyTexas application. If you do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours contact the Office of New Student Orientation at orientation@untdallas.edu or (972) 780-3642.
What is the deadline to register for NSO?
Registration for each orientation session closes one week prior to the date of NSO at 5:00 p.m. It is important you register for orientation as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
Once I register for NSO, can I change my session date? If so, how do I reschedule my NSO?
Yes, you are able to change your NSO to other date. To change your NSO date, send an email with your first and last name and 8-digit UNT Dallas ID number to orientation@untdallas.edu. Please state your wish to change your NSO and the date of your preferred new NSO. Once received, you NSO will be updated and visible on your my.untdallas.edu portal.
How do I pay my NSO fee?
Your NSO fee does NOT need to be paid up front or before you attend, it will be applied to your student account AFTER you have registered for and attended an NSO and can be paid online through your MyUNTDallas portal.
How is my NSO fee used?
The NSO fee supplements the cost of new student “swag”, program implementation, facilities usages, food, staffing and other resources to ensure you are supported in your first year at UNT Dallas.
How do parents & guests register to attend NSO?
While parents & guests are not required to attend, if they wish to do so please let our staff know that they will be attending when you are contacted to confirm your NSO reservation. Space at NSO is limited. As sessions fill up, space for guests and parents may become limited.
If I register for NSO and decided to not attend and withdraw my admissions to UNT Dallas, can I get a refund?
All orientation fees are non-refundable. If you decide not to attend UNT Dallas or your NSO, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at admissions@untdallas.edu or (972) 780-3642.
Where is UNT Dallas located?
UNT Dallas is located at 7300 University Hills Blvd. Dallas, TX 75241. If using GPS, an alternative address to use is 7300 Houston School Road Dallas, TX 75241. If you get lost and need directions or running late on the day of your NSO, call (972) 780-3642.
I was accepted and will enroll at UNT. Where do I go for orientation?
Students attending the Denton campus will attend orientation at that location. For information on Denton’s orientation, please visit Denton Campus Orientation website. Students attending UNT Denton will not receive credit for attending orientation if you attend a session at the Dallas campus. Additionally, students attending UNT Dallas will not receive credit by attending an orientation session at the Denton campus.
