Holds and Recalls
If a regular circulating item is checked out, you may request a hold/recall on that item via the catalog, by email, or in person.
How To Request a Hold/Recall
Regular circulating library materials:
- In Person: Make a request at a service desk with your current, valid ID card.
- Online: Click the "Request this item for pickup" link in the catalog record.
- E-mail: Make a request to Access Services. Include your name and ID number, the call number, and title of the item.
Media Library Materials:
- In Person: Make a request at a service desk with your current, valid ID card.
- Online: Click the "Request this item for pick up" link in the catalog record.
- By Phone: Call (940) 565-2480 during normal business hours.
- E-mail: Media Library.
What Happens When an Item is Recalled?
- Initial Notification: The person who has checked out the item will be e-mailed and notified that someone else has requested the item. For items checked out with a due date longer than three weeks (i.e. materials checked out to faculty, staff, and graduate students), the checkout period will be reduced to a period three weeks from the initial checkout date.
- No Renewals: The item on recall will no longer be eligible for renewal.
- Notification of Availability: The person making the recall request will be notified by e-mail when the recalled item has been checked in and is available.
- Recalls for Faculty Reserves: If the Item being recalled is needed for faculty reserves, it may be recalled immediately.
- Fines and Fees on Recalled Items: Users who fail to respond to recall requests may incur additional fines.
Items on Hold
- Items available for pickup will be at the requested service desk for 5 days from the time of notification.
- Items available for pickup at the Media Library Service Desk are available for 3 days from the time of notification.
