UNT Community Garden

Get Involved!

Garden Workdays:
Open for anyone to attend, garden workdays are opportunities for community service and learning about gardening methods from expert guest speakers. Email CommunityGarden@unt.edu to receive updates about what will be happening at the upcoming workdays. Workdays are typically held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.

Plot ownership:
All of the plots are currently owned, but you can still submit an application at any time to secure your spot on the waiting list for the fall!

Who can apply?
UNT Student Organizations, groups of 5+ students, and departments are welcome to apply for ownership of one of the plots. Individual students seeking to get involved may also fill out both forms and designate themselves as an "Individual Student" when asked for the department or group name. These students will be placed on a waiting list and contacted whenever there are vacancies to fill.

Previous gardening experience is NOT necessary.

To apply you must read and complete both the Participation Contract and Plot Application (found at the bottom of this page).

Completed forms and any questions should be sent to: CommunityGarden@unt.edu

About the UNT Community Garden

The UNT Community Garden is a space where UNT students, faculty, and staff can organically grow food, become educated on sustainability, and foster connections and relationships that will benefit our community.

The UNT Community Garden is a place for all students, regardless of gardening knowledge or background.  Seeds, tools, water, and gardening supplies are provided for FREE for gardeners. The garden is intended to be a place for all to gather, garden, learn, and socialize.

The Garden came about through a student led proposal presented to the We Mean Green Fund Committee in 2015. It is located in by Legends Hall, behind the Rec Center, and features raised garden beds, composting, and native landscaping for pollinators. Future plans for the garden include fruit trees!
