Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Grand Challenges: Explorations

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is now accepting grant proposals for Round 4 of Grand Challenges Explorations, a US$100 million initiative to encourage unconventional global health solutions. Anyone can apply, regardless of education or experience level. Grant proposals are being accepted online on the following topics: (1)Create new technologies for contraception, (2)Create new ways to protect against infectious disease, (3) Create new ways to induce and measure mucosal immunity, and (4)Create low-cost diagnostics for priority global health conditions.

National Academies: Pakistan-U.S. Science and Technology Cooperation Program

Funded by both Pakistani and U.S. government agencies, the Pakistan-U.S. Science and Technology Cooperation Program offers grants that support collaborations between Pakistani and U.S. scientists, engineers, and healthcare specialists in a range of fields important to Pakistan, including agriculture, water, health, and the biological and environmental sciences.

Barth Syndrome Foundation. Research Grant

Barth syndrome is a serious X-linked genetic condition associated with cardiomyopathy, neutropenia, skeletal muscle weakness, exercise intolerance, growth delay, and diverse biochemical abnormalities (including defects in mitochondrial metabolism and phospholipid biosynthesis). Because many clinical and biochemical abnormalities of Barth syndrome remain poorly understood, the foundation is seeking proposals for research that may shed light on any aspect of the syndrome.

Environmental Protection Agency: 7th Annual P3 Awards: A National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on People, Prosperity and the Planet

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as part of the P3 Award Program, is seeking applications proposing to research, develop, and design solutions to real world challenges involving the overall sustainability of human society. The P3 competition highlights the use of scientific principles in creating innovative projects focused on sustainability. The P3 Awards program was developed to foster progress toward sustainability by achieving the mutual goals of economic prosperity, protection of the planet, and improved quality of life for its people--people, prosperity, and the planet, which are the three pillars of sustainability. The EPA offers the P3 competition in order to respond to the technical needs of the world while moving towards the goal of sustainability.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program

The Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program (PHIFP) is a 2-year paid fellowship in public health informatics. The competency-based and hands-on training allows you to apply information and computer science and technology to solve real-world problems. Fellows will have the opportunity to learn about informatics and public health. Fellows will work with teams involved in research and development of public health information systems. They will also lead an informatics project. Additionally, fellows will design, develop, implement, evaluate, and manage public health information systems .
