On Tap North Texas is back into Sun Belt Conference play for the rest of the year as they  visit Middle Tennessee in the second game of three game road swing. The Mean Green  lost by 11 at Tulane before the Christmas break and has lost three straight games. North Texas is still searching for its first road win of the year. MTSU is 6-5 on the year and 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Blue Raiders have dropped two straight games. 
The Coaches Mike Petersen is in his first-year as the head coach of North Texas. Petersen, a coaching veteran who is entering his 20th season overall, has 315 career wins. Petersen has been the head coach at Gonzaga, New Mexico State, TCU and Wake Forest. MTSU is led by Rick Insell who is in his eight season with the Blue Raiders. Insell is three wins away from becoming the winningest coach in MTSU history. He has a record of 180-59.
The Series North Texas and Middle Tennessee are meeting for the 18th time in series history. The Blue Raiders lead the series 13-4. Middle Tennessee has won the last eight games against North Texas. The last Mean Green win in the series came in 2006. North Texas is 1-5 at the Murphy Center all-time with the only win coming in 2002.
Big Blocks, Big Numbers Freshman Alexis Hyder notched her third double-double of the season against Tulane with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Mean Green and thanks to a recent surge, she leads North Texas with 13 blocked shots on the year. Through the first seven games, Hyder  had just three blocked shots, but in the last three games she has swatted 10. In the last two games Hyder has had four blocked shots in each.
