Indiana downs NT, 79-60, in Tournament Championship Game

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (11/23/03) -- Indiana held North Texas to just 27 percent shooting and rolled to a 79-60 victory to claim the championship of the Indiana Classic on Sunday.

North Texas, which fell behind by a 44-25 score at halftime after shooting just 20 percent (7 of 34) in the first half, had just two players reach double figures in scoring. Senior forward Kim Blanton led with 12 points while freshman DiDi Wali ended with 10 points.

Indiana's Jenny DeMuth scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Hoosiers. She was one of three Indiana players in double figures.

North Texas made 12 of 37 shots in the second half but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Blanton and junior guard Jill Medlock represented North Texas on the All-Tournament Team.

North Texas returns to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Super Pit when NT will host Sam Houston State in its 2003-04 home opener.
