Mean Green Signs Taylor Hooker From Tulsa

DENTON, Texas -- North Texas women's basketball head coach Mike Petersen announced Wednesday that the Mean Green has picked up Tulsa transfer Taylor Hooker. The junior guard spent her first two collegiate seasons with the Golden Hurricane, averaging 11.8 points per game and over three steals per game, which ranked 19th nationally and first in Conference USA action.

"We are very excited to have Taylor join our program, we feel like she will be a great addition as a student athlete," said Petersen. "Her skill set and athleticism will fit the way that we want to play and she is going to be a great asset for us."

Hooker was the second leading scorer last season for Tulsa as she started in 26 of 28 games. She scored a career-high 26 points against Houston and a career-high 13 rebounds against TCU.

Hooker had two double-doubles and scored in double figures in 17 games last season with Tulsa. Hooker was in the top-3 in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and field goal percentage with the Golden Hurricane in 2011-12. As a freshman Hooker played in 17 games and averaged 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Prior to Tulsa, Hooker was a two-year letterwinner at Mansfield Summit High School, helping the Jaguars to the 5A State Championship her junior year. Hooker led the Jaguars to the state semifinals as a senior and a two-year record of 68-15. The Arlington, Texas native was also selected as Mansfield Summit's Defensive Player of the Year after her senior season.
