Mean Green Basketball In Action Tonight

DENTON (2/19/07) - The North Texas women's basketball team continues its homestand with a game against Western Kentucky tonight at 7 pm. The game can be heard on KNTU Radio (88.1 FM).

After winning the first three games of the series, North Texas has lost the last six games to Western Kentucky as they trail in the series 3-6. The Lady Toppers won the first matchup of the season in Bowling Green by 14-points. North Texas has played the Lady Toppers well at home having won two of the three meetings. The last North Texas win in the series came in the 2002 Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals in a 84-52 victory.

North Texas must win its final two games at home to avoid its first losing season at home since 2002-03 season. Over the past nine plus seasons the Mean Green has a home record of 77-27 and has had only one losing season.

Freshman Brittney James has now scored in double figures in a career best four straight games. Since moving into the starting lineup she has averaged 19.3 points a game and shot the ball 51 percent from the floor. She needs only 20 more points to notch the most points in a single season by a North Texas freshman since 1998-99.
