DENTON, Texas - After over two weeks on the road the North Texas women's basketball team is back home to face the New Orleans Privateers Saturday afternoon at the Super Pit. The game time is at 2 p.m. and can be heard on 88.1 FM KNTU.

North Texas and New Orleans will meet for the 23rd time in series history. The Mean Green has the edge over the Privateers leading 14-8.

True freshman Caitlin Hawkins made her first career start against Louisiana-Lafayette and turned in her best performance of the season. Hawkins, who had yet to score through 15 games, hit two 3-pointers and dished out four assists at the point guard spot in playing a season-high 29 minutes. With the start, Hawkins is the fourth true freshman to start a game this season for the Mean Green.

Brittney James has taken her game to the next level the last month of play. James is working on a career best streak of scoring in double figures in six straight games. During that streak James has averaged 17.3 points a game and hit on 46.3 percent of her shots.

Prior to this season James had topped the 20-point mark in her career four times. Through 16 games James has scored 20 points or more four times.

Denetra Kellum had one of her best nights for the Mean Green against ULL. Kellum came off the bench to score 19 points, her second highest total of the season. Kellum's efforts fueled the North Texas bench to its best production night of the year. The Mean Green got 36 points from the bench against ULL.

Texas has entered a rough patch as they have dropped five straight games and eight of their last nine. North Texas needs a win to avoid their longest losing streak in six seasons. The Mean Green hasn't lost six straight games since the 2003-04 season

North Texas shot a season-best 54.4 percent from the floor against Louisiana-Lafayette. It was the best night of shooting for North Texas since December 22, 2007 against Denver. It is the third time in the last two seasons
