DENTON -- Despite a double-double by Briesha Wynn, the North Texas women's basketball team fell to Eastern Illinois in overtime, 59-57, on Sunday afternoon at the Super Pit.

Wynn led the Mean Green today with 19 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. North Texas came up just short despite posting season highs in shooting percentage (38.3) and 3-pointers made (7).

Wynn tied the game, 53-53, with a 3-pointer at 1:11 in the second half to force overtime. The Panthers outscored the Mean Green, 6-4, in overtime, and North Texas missed a layup at the buzzer to seal the win for Eastern Illinois.

North Texas led by as many as 11 points after holding a 10-point lead at the break. Down by nine points, 31-22, at 15:49, Eastern Illinois went on a shooting spree, hitting 10 of their 13 attempts from the field to tie the game at 47-47 with 5:13 on the clock. The Panthers' leading scorer Sabina Oroszova posted 11 points in the run. She finished with 17 points and 15 points after being held to two points in the first half.

Neither team led by more than three points in the final three minutes of the game with the teams exchanging leads four times before time expired.

North Texas took a 10-point lead into half after going on an 11-0 run toward the end of the first period. The run was capped by a 3-pointer by Wynn, who then scored the final four points of the first period to give North Texas a 26-16 advantage at the break.

• North Texas returns to action on Dec. 3 when it faces SMU on the road.

Mean Green Quick Hitters

• North Texas played its first overtime game of the season. North Texas is 6-23 overall in overtime games. Its last overtime game was last year against SMU, a 84-79 loss.
