DENTON -- Playing in their final home match of their careers on Sunday, seniors Cat Sebazco and Tori Phillips each scored a goal in the same game for the first time ever.

Sebazco and Phillips scored their goals early in Sunday's 4-0 win over Florida International and they came within two minutes and 37 seconds of each other.

"We couldn't of scripted the game any better for the seniors," said head coach John Hedlund. "They gave us the early lead at 2-0, scoring two great goals and from there our depth really seemed to take over and I think it was just too much for FIU."

Sebazco scored the first goal of the match, which came in the 12th minute after she intercepted the pass from the Panther goalie.

Then in the 15th minute, Phillips scored on a free kick just outside the box.

It was both Sebazco and Phillips' second goal of the year.

"It was special," Phillips said. "To do that in our final home game with everything we've been through together over the past four years it was really special."

North Texas (12-3-3, 7-1-2) padded its two-goal lead over FIU (1-14, 0-10) with two more goals from freshman Ariel Diaz. The freshman forward ends the regular season with six goals and ties junior Aaliyah Nolan for the team-lead in goals.

Both Sebazco and Phillips played 74 minutes against the Panthers and were offensive threats, as each took three shots.

With the win on Sunday the Mean Green secured a No. 2-seed in the conference tournament that begins on Wednesday from Boca Raton, Florida. North Texas will face the No. 7-seed Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinal round match at 4:30 CT.
