Flu Vaccinations Fall 2017

Update: The Student Health and Wellness Center has received a limited re-supply of flu vaccine. You can come in during the hours listed below while supplies last.

Don't let the flu keep you from going to class

The Student Health and Wellness Center will be providing flu vaccinations for enrolled UNT students, faculty and staff starting on Monday, September 25, 2017.  Vaccinations are as a walk-in service at the Student Health and Wellness Center from 9-11:30 am and 2-4:30 pm Monday through Friday while supplies last.

Cost of Vaccinations

Vaccinations are free for enrolled UNT students and $15 for faculty and staff. The Student Health and Wellness Center can accept cash, check and credit card payments but only cash and check will be accepted at the off-site flu clinics (see below).

Why should I get a flu vaccination?

To save the UNT community from becoming zombies.  Ok, no one at UNT is really at risk of becoming a zombie, that we know of, but you can help keep others from getting sick and possibly prevent yourself from getting sick.  Even if you get infected with an influenza super-virus that manages to infect you even after getting vaccinated, studies have shown that getting your annual flu vaccination can reduce your chances of being hospitalized from flu and possibly reduce the severity of the symptoms of the flu virus.  But really, isn't it cooler to say you got a flu shot to save the world? We think so.

But what if I am not able to get to the Student Health and Wellness Center during the flu clinic hours?

No worries!  The Student Health and Wellness Center will be bringing flu vaccinations to other areas of the Denton campus and to Discovery Park and the New Campus at Frisco.  Information about these off-site flu clinics will be listed below once details are finalized.

Date Time Location
Thursday, September 28, 2017 11 am to 1 pm Library Forum (1st floor of Library)
Wednesday, October 4, 2017 11 am to 1 pm Victory Hall Lobby
Tuesday, October 10, 2017 11 am to 1 pm Kerr Hall Lobby
Monday, October 16, 2017 11 am to 1 pm Discovery Park, Classroom B Hall
Tuesday, October 24, 2017 1:45 to 6:30 pm Frisco Campus

If the off-site clinics don't work for your schedule, you can also check with your primary care provider, and many local pharmacies.  If you have health insurance, this will usually be covered free.  However, depending on your insurance plan, you may have to go to a specific location to not be charged a fee.  Check with your insurance company to verify what you need to do.

What if I cannot get a flu shot?

That's cool. You can still help out by telling those around you to get the flu shot. If everyone around you is vaccinated, you will be less likely to get the flu yourself.  Think of yourself as Lois Lane and spread the word about the importance of getting a flu shot.
