ACCUPLACER Exam

ACCUPLACER tests administered at UNT Dallas assess students' skills in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. ACCUPLACER  scores may be required for particular degree programs. Consult with your program advisor to determine which tests you need to take, and contact Academic Support at 972-338-1769, or 972-338-1761 to schedule a  testing appointment. ACCUPLACER results are available immediately after testing.

Test Information

Both UNT Dallas and Non-UNT Dallas students are eligible to take the ACCUPLACER Exam.  An appointment is required to take the exam which may be scheduled online. The cost to take the exam is $30.00 and is payable by check or money order on the day of your exam.   Consult with your department regarding retest policies. 

Test Preparation

Students can prepare for the ACCUPLACER exam by reviewing the Sample Questions provided by the College Board.  Some students have also found the SAT review helpful to prepare for the exam.  Visit the SAT site for additional test preparation materials.

Testing Policies

On the day of the exam:

  1. You will be asked to present photo identification for verification (student ID, driver’s license, passport, etc.). Check in is located in DAL1 on the third floor. 
  2. You will be asked to empty your pockets and secure your belongings.
  3. Bulky clothing is not allowed during the test. If you are wearing a jacket, you will be asked to remove it prior to testing.
  4. Hats are not allowed during testing, and you will be asked to remove a hat prior to testing.
  5. No food or drink is allowed during testing.

All exams are proctored (paper and pencil, in person; Computer-based via VNC). We maintain a zero tolerance policy on academic dishonesty. The use of unauthorized aids or cheating of any form will void placement score.  Visit accuplacer.org for additional information regarding the ACCUPLACER exam.
