A freshman applicant is a first time in college student who will or has graduated from high school but has not attended a college or university since high school graduation. Students who have participated in a high school dual credit program, concurrent enrollment program or early college high school program while in high school are considered a freshman applicant.
Assured First Time in College Admission Requirements
Students who graduate in the top 10 percent of their high school class and successfully complete the requirements below will gain automatic admissions to UNT Dallas.
Students who graduate from an accredited high school and fulfill the curriculum requirements for the Recommended or Distinguished high school graduation plans (Summer 2017 and prior); Distinguished Achievement or HB5 Foundations with Endorsements high school graduation plans (Fall 2017 and later); or a curriculum equivalent in content and rigor can gain assured admissions determined by rank in class and minimum college entrance exam scores.

Students who do not meet automatic admissions requirements will be evaluated holistically by an admission committee based on:
- SAT/ACT Scores
- High School GPA (Unweighted 4.0 scale)
- Academic course selection (including Honors, AP, Dual Credit and IB courses)
- Extracurricular Activities
- Leadership Experiences
- Community Service
- Special talents & awards
- Employment history
- Personal statement or writing sample
- Two letters of recommendation
