Steven Menard

Steve Menard has enjoyed an extensive performing career throughout the United States and South America.  Mr. Menard is currently Principal Trombone of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Utah Festival Opera Orchestra.  He has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Virginia Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic and many others.  In addition to his orchestral work, Mr.

Natalie Mannix

Natalie Mannix, principal trombonist of the Delaware Symphony, is an avid soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer and educator. In fall of 2016 she began her current position as Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of North Texas after teaching 8 years at Towson University in Baltimore. Previously, she was a member of the United States Navy Band in Washington, DC for over 9 years where she performed with the brass quintet, concert and ceremonial band.  

Tanya Darby

Assistant Professor Tanya Darby teaches lead trumpet lessons and Introduction to Jazz Recordings and directs the Three O'Clock Lab Band. She earned a master's degree in Jazz Performance from Rutgers University in 2012 and a bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 1998.

Jason Bergman

Jason Bergman has performed throughout the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, and South America.  He is currently Principal Trumpet of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and Mobile Opera.  He has also been a member of the Gulf Coast Symphony, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, and Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.  In 2008, he was named Associate Principal trumpet of the Santiago Philharmonic in Santiago, Chile, where he performed during their 2008 season.

Michael Steinel

A respected jazz trumpeter, pianist, composer and arranger, Mike Steinel has performed with Don Ellis, Bill Evans and Jerry Bergonzi, the Chicago Jazz Quintet, and the Frank Mantooth Big Band. Prior to his association with the University of North Texas, Steinel was jazz artist-in-residence at Bethel College and served on the jazz faculty of Northern Illinois University. His textbook, Building a Jazz Vocabulary, was published in 1994 by Hal Leonard Publications.

William Scharnberg

William Scharnberg joined the faculty at the University of North Texas in 1983 and became a Regents Professor in 2002. He is principal horn of the Dallas Opera Orchestra and Wichita Falls Symphony and regularly performs chamber music in a variety of venues. He has been a member of the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, Pacific Lutheran University, the Royal Music Academy of Stockholm, and Central Missouri State University.

Terence Reynolds

Terence Reynolds is an adjunct instructor of horn and chamber music at the University of North Texas. He is an original member of the Dallas Opera Orchestra horn section. He performs regularly with Texas Winds Musical Outreach, the Basically Beethoven Festival and numerous other Metroplex groups. He was a member of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for 15 years. He has performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Montana Chamber Music Festival, Dallas Summer Musicals, and Casa Mañana Orchestra. He also toured with orchestras for Frank Sinatra and Andrea Bocelli.

Donald Little

Donald C. Little, Principal Tuba and Cimbasso of the Dallas Opera Orchestra, performs frequently in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with many orchestras and ensembles including the Sundance Brass, Texas Winds Brass Quintet, and UNT Faculty Brass. During summers he performs with the Summit Concert Band and Blue River Brass of Summit County, Colorado. Little has performed and recorded with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Opera Orchestra, Dallas Symphony and the German Radio-Symphony Orchestra of Berlin.

John Holt

John Holt is professor of trumpet and chair of the Division of Instrumental Studies at the University of North Texas. Holt is also principal trumpet with the Dallas Opera Orchestra, a position he has held since 1989. Holt was the recipient of the 2016 UNT Creative Impact Award, an award “given to a full-time University faculty member whose publications, performances, or exhibitions in the literary or creative arts have had the greatest societal impact.”

Brian Bowman

Characterized by a virtuosic technique and a warm, rich, velvet tone, Brian Bowman’s playing has thrilled audiences for more than a quarter of a century.
