DENTON - Sophomore forward Melinda Pina has been named the Sun Belt Conference Soccer Player of the Week for her performances last weekend against Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee. Pina recorded her first career hat trick against Middle Tennessee and finished the week with seven points and the game winning goal against the Blue Raiders.

Pina, who missed five games earlier in the season with a knee injury, had an assist against the Lady Toppers and also registered a season high five shots, scoring on three of those shots, against the Blue Raiders. Pina has now scored a point in three consecutive games for the Mean Green

This also marks the first time in her career that Pina has been chosen as the Player of the Week and the second time a North Texas player has been selected this year. Marilyn Marin was chosen Player of the Week earlier in the season for the Mean Green.
