Sophomore forward Marilyn Marin of the University of North Texas’ women’s soccer team has been named third team All-Central Region by Soccer Buzz, a leading Internet site devoted to coverage of NCAA Division I women’s soccer.

It marks the second straight year that Marin, a unanimous All-Sun Belt Conference pick after leading the Lady Eagles (13-5, 7-1) to the Sun Belt’s regular-season championship, has been named to the All-Central Region team. Last year as a freshman, Marin was named first team all-region as well as to Soccer Buzz’s Freshman All-America squad.

Marin led the Lady Eagles in scoring for the second straight season in 2001, finishing with 15 goals and three assists for a team-high 33 points. She was one of five unanimous picks for the All-Sun Belt Conference first team and was also selected to the Sun Belt’s All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Lady Eagles to the championship game of the league’s post-season tournament for the second consecutive year.
