Soccer Defeats Lamar 3-0

LUBBOCK, Texas- North Texas  (5-2-1) closed out the Red Raider Classic with a 3-0 win over Lamar (2-4). Kelsey Perlman collected her first two goals of the season to give the Mean Green the win.

"I thought overall we played well this weekend," said North Texas Head Coach John Hedlund. "We showed our depth and it was a total team effort. We're all now excited about the big showdown against SMU next Friday at home, hopefully we'll have a huge crowd."

Kelsey Perlman knocked in a rebound in the 29th minute with her first goal of the season. Perlman doubled her total in the 39th minute when she scored on a breakaway.

Michelle Young added her third goal of the season in the 60th minute on a through ball from Nikki Crocco, who earned her first assist of the season.

Mandy Hall got the start in net and recorded her third shutout of the year in net. Hall's Goals Against Average fell to 0.34.

Mean Green out-shot Lamar 11 to two. North Texas had six corner kicks to Lamar's two.

North Texas returns to the Mean Green Soccer Field on Friday, September 17 at 7 p.m. as they host the SMU Mustangs in the Livestrong game. North Texas will wear special jerseys, special shirts will be available for sale and donations will be accepted.
