North Texas To Open Johnie Imes Monday From Columbia

Oct. 1, 2017

COLUMBIA, Missouri - The North Texas women's golf team is set to compete in its third tournament of the fall season Monday at the Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by Missouri at The Club at Old Hawthorne, a par-72, 6,204 yard course. Last season North Texas set a school record for their lowest round, five-under, in the second round of the Johnie Imes.

"It is nice to be back at Mizzou this year," head coach Michael Akers said. "We have great memories from last year's second round. The team is hoping to put up good, consistant numbers this year. We have shown some really good signs this fall, but have not yet put three solid rounds together. I feel our short games are coming along and we are ready to play."

North Texas' lineup comprised of junior Sol Lee, sophomore Lauren Cox, junior Sabina Pena, senior Nyca Khaw and sophomore Elena Kim will open the three-day event on Monday, Oct. 2, carrying through Wednesday, Oct. 4. The five Mean Green golfers are slated to tee off in round one on Monday morning and fans can follow all of the action with live results here, courtesy of Birdiefire.

The 54-hole event will open with the first round on Monday, round two on Tuesday, and the third and final round on Wednesday.

The Mean Green will compete against host Missouri, Bradley, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, FIU, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State, UALR, UMKC and Wichita State.
