Printmaking
Printmaking includes a variety of printing processes such as intaglio (etching, photo intaglio and mezzotint), lithography (hand-drawn and photo-based processes from stones or plates), screenprint (also called silk screen or serigraphy), relief (woodcut and linocut), monotype (one-of-a-kind prints transferred from an unstable matrix), and many other image-transfer art forms.
As a Printmaking student at UNT, you will have the opportunity to take a variety of courses in studio printmaking, the history of printmaking, drawing, painting, photography, and a variety of studio electives. Many printmaking students take an elective Professional Internship course with a local commercial/industrial print shop or our professional print shop at P.R.I.N.T Press.
The Printmaking studios offer over 5,000 square feet of space with etching/relief presses, lithography presses, a large selection of lithography stones and exposure units for screenprint, intaglio and lithography. The Art Building also offers many facilities for digital and cross-media processes in the digital print lab, a digital fabrication lab, and a sculpture shop.
The printmaking program is a designed as a point of entry into a studio career. Many of our printmaking alumni are self-employed, exhibiting and selling their works in galleries and museums. Our alumni also work in a variety of related visual fields including commercial printing, graphic design, and art education. The B.F.A. program also prepares you to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree if you want to further your studio education or qualify to teach art at the college level. Our B.F.A. and M.F.A. students employ our many on-campus professional research resources as well the resources available through the first rate art museums, contemporary art galleries and other cultural activities in the Dallas and Fort Worth area.

Student accomplishments
Jessie Barnes
Jessie Barnes (MFA 2017) won the Frogman's Printmaking Workshop Graduate Student Scholarship. Jessie competed with graduate students from across the US. As the scholarship recipient Jessie's tuition for the the Frogman's 2016 Print Workshop is waived. Additionally, during the workshops she will have a solo exhibition at the Hexagon Gallery of the Weber Fine Arts Building at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Cala Coats
Art Education PhD alumna Cala Coats (2014), now Assistant Professor at Stephen F. Austin State University, published her article "Tracing Suburban Desire" in the journal Visual Arts Research.
