Assignment: Graphic Organizer

Inspiration allows you to create graphical organizers that convey the structure of some topic in a visually appealing way. It allows you to communicate a lot of content in a way that can be printed out in a single page, and can be posted on the web with hyperlinks going to many more web sites. In short, it's a great tool for disseminating information in a way that is attactive and analogous to the way an expert would organize it in his or her own mind.

Requirements

Your assignment is to create a concept map of the important concepts of Chapter 2 of your text. Your deliverable should have the following characteristics:

  • At least 20 concepts or facts organized into categories and subcategories (that is, a single blob with 20 blobs coming directly out of the center with no chunking is NOT what we're after)
  • At least 5 images used appropriately to illustrate the concepts
  • Hyperlinks attached to at least 5 of the items on the page
  • MOST IMPORTANT: the structure of the map should mirror the scructure of the content itself, with some concepts subsuming others. Use the examples from the Graphic Organizer lesson page to inspire you to think in terms of hierarchical structures, flow-charts for processes and procedures, etc.

Your concept map will be evaluated according to the following rubric.
