Katie Crowder

Senior Lecturer

 

     Katie Crowder is a Sr. Lecturer in linguistics and ESL. She holds a master's degree from UNT in Linguistics with a specialization in TESOL. Katie's professional background and interests include teaching introductory linguistics, acquisition of ESL, ESL teacher training, designing/directing language and cultural immersion programs, designing ESL Curriculum with a focus on high-frequency idioms, analyzing the globalization of English, and documenting the influence of media and technology on language change. During her career at UNT, Katie has created an innovative undergraduate course, The Language of Now: Pop Culture, Technology, and Society; a linguistics film series in collaboration with the UNT Media Library —Linguistics in Motion; and a video entitled, "Colonize This! A Pop Cultural Exploration of English Dialects Throughout the World." Katie is also a member of and mentor for the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Islamabad cohort.
