Needs Statement

For the patient with COPD, it is seldom the only illness diagnosed. The existence of co-morbid conditions and the severity of COPD symptoms greatly the impact the mortality and quality of life for the COPD patient.  This presentation describes the frequency and impact of comorbidities and the management of COPD.

Target Audience

This program was designed to address the educational needs of physicians, phyisican assistant, nurses, nurse practitioners and pharmacists.

Objectives

• Identify the impact comorbidities have on management of COPD  
• Identify strategies for management of COPD with multiple comorbidities  
• Explore the strengths and weaknesses of comorbidity research

The University of North Texas Health Science Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
