As a student in UNT's Honors College, she minored in women's and gender studies and biology while earning a biochemistry degree.

She will study how to help residents of rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing nations understand and fight diseases.

"Every child is entitled to health and education," she says, and plans to dedicate her career to advocating for the rights of women and children.
