Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Psychology at the University of North Texas at Dallas! The Department of Sociology and Psychology currently offers a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology, and minors in both Sociology and Psychology.

BA in Sociology

The Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree program is designed to prepare students for graduate study in sociology or for careers in a wide variety of fields including education, social service, health, probation, criminal justice, and government. The minor in Psychology provides introductory subject material for general Psychology along with a variety of Health and Organizational classes designed to complement other Bachelor of Arts programs currently offered at UNT Dallas.

BA in Psychology

This undergraduate program introduces students to the science and profession of psychology. Culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, this is a program for students interested in such career areas as human services, public relations, correctional institutions, rehabilitation facilities, program development, and research.

The faculty of the Department of Sociology and Psychology are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service and endeavor to provide undergraduate students with exceptional opportunities to learn valuable, life-long transferable skills in critical thinking, data collection, data analysis, and in communicating research to a public audience. Engaged in a variety of research areas including: sustainable societies and medical, environmental, and urban sociology, faculty use a range of theoretical approaches and research methods to investigate the structure, interaction, and processes of groups, organizations, and societies, providing students with opportunities to examine specific social institutions and develop a core set of marketable skills required by all sociologists.
