Biosketch
Barbara L. Harty is a clinical research coordinator and lead coordinator for pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical research in the Geriatric Division. She also serves as back up coordinator for cardiology studies.
Her practice consists of long-term care where she attends to about 100 patients a month in nursing facilities and assisted-living facilities. Fourth-year medical students and geriatric fellows follow her on her rounds. She also presents didactic training to the medical students.
Harty has been a registered nurse for the last 25 years and is experienced in long-term care, acute care and ambulatory care. She currently holds national certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner.
She is also a Clinical Research Coordinator and has been lead coordinator for studies involving aging, including Alzheimer’s, osteoarthritis, epilepsy and diabetes. She has lectured on a variety of gerontological issues.
