What is the minimum GRE score requirements?
We do not have a minimum GRE score requirement, although the average scores for the fall 2016 class were 152 (53%) for the verbal, 152 (50%) for quantitative and 4.0 (50%) for the analytical writing section at the masters level. We encourage you to apply whether or not you meet these guidelines. Keep in mind that all components of the application are taken into consideration.
What is the minimum GPA requirements?
We do not have a minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) requirement. The mean undergraduate GPA of fall 2016 accepted applicants to the masters programs was 3.4.
Doctoral applicants must have a minimum 3.2 GPA. Although a minimum GPA is required, the mean graduate GPA of applicants offered admission in fall 2016 was 3.84.

How long does it take to get an admissions decision?
Once your application has been released to our university from the application service and all application materials have been received you can expect the following decision timelines:
MPH Applicants: 2-3 weeks
MHA Applicants: 2-3 weeks
MS Applicants: 2-3 weeks
Doctoral Applicants: Decisions are usually made in late February early March
Do you offer online degree programs?
We offer the MPH Online and our MPH Online – Professional Option online. Graduate certificate programs can also be completed online.
Do you offer classes at night or online?
For programs offered in a full-time cohort some courses are offered in the evening from 6-9pm. However, students will be required to complete their curriculum at various times of the day.
The MPH if also offered completely online for the non-cohort students.
How long will it take to complete the MHA/MPH/MS/PhD or Graduate Certificate in Public Health?
Time to completion will vary depending on the course load students take. Students have a time limitation of 6 years for the master degrees and 7 years for the doctoral degrees to complete.

What are the MHA, MPH & MS application deadlines?
Priority deadline (ensuring your application is considered for scholarship opportunities) is March 15. Applications will continue to be reviewed until all seats are filled. Remember to allow up to 4 weeks for SOPHAS or HAMPCAS to process your application and submit it to UNTHSC.
Are there any prerequisites required for the masters programs?
We do not require prerequisite courses for master programs.
Will my application be considered after the priority application deadline?
Master level on campus programs will accept applications after the priority date based on space availability.
Doctoral applications for Fall 2017 will be considered through March 15 or when all seats are filled. See more information about application deadlines.
Do I need to send official transcripts to UNTHSC-School of Public Health?
If you have submitted your official transcripts to either SOPHAS or HAMPCAS you will not need to send additional transcripts to our office. However, if you are offered admission and plan to enroll and did not submit your final transcript showing your degree or coursework completed, you will need to request an official final transcript to be sent to our office.
How many students are currently enrolled at UNTHSC/School of Public Health?
UNTHSC has a student population of approximately 2700 students. This encompasses students enrolled in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions and the UNT System College of Pharmacy. The student population in the School of Public Health is 506.
Can I apply to more than one concentration?
Applicants must apply to one concentration. The concentration should be referenced in the applicants Personal Statement and should align with applicants career goals.
Once I have been accepted, can I change concentrations or degree programs?
Current students can apply for a change of concentration, prior to the start of there second semester. Students must be in academic good standing at the time they request a change of concentration and there will need to be seats available in the desired concentration. All requests will be reviewed by the faculty and Department Chairs for consideration.
Core master level courses can range between 25-40 students, required courses average 15-30 students, electives average 10-30 depending on the elective.
Do you offer on-campus housing?
We do not offer campus housing but we are located near many residential and apartment complexes. You may contact our office for a list of apartments in the area or use an online apartment locator.
What type of funding is available for master students?
The Dean offers competitive scholarships & graduate assistantships (GA) to new incoming students each fall semester. These awards are given out based on prior academic performance. To be considered for the scholarships & GA positions applicants must have submitted and completed their fall application through SOPHAS or HAMPCAS by the March 15th priority application deadline to be considered. That means all application materials must be received by the application service well enough in advance for the service to complete the coursework verification and release the verified application to the university.
The GA positions are part-time hourly paid positions with a limited amount of funding for the first academic year. These positions do not qualify for an out-of-state residency waiver for tuition.

What type of funding is available for new doctoral students?
The School offers limited competitive multi-year funding packages to doctoral students.
What is the approximate tuition and fees cost to attend UNTHSC School of Public Health?
Approximate costs below are to complete the entire program which includes tuition & fees, course fees, transcript, matriculation, laptop with software (if required) and graduation fees. These costs are subject to change.

Can I transfer credits for graduate level courses taken elsewhere?
MPH or MHA: We will accept up to 12 semester credit hours of graduate course work taken elsewhere with approval from appropriate faculty members for courses deemed relevant. Only courses with a grade of B or better will be considered.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): A student may apply up to 42 SCH of previously taken graduate level courses toward the completion of the PhD coursework (Advanced Standing). Only courses with a grade of B or better will be considered and are subject to approval.
