For the past three years, I've gotten my primary health care from UNTHSC's family medicine clinic. I'm currently in the midst of a days-long struggle to get my ...prescription (a maintenance medication which I've been on for more than a decade) refilled.

Five days ago, I called my pharmacy to get the refill; they informed me that my refills had run out and they needed to fax the doctor's office. Two days later, I called back; the pharmacy had heard nothing. So, I called UNTHSC's Family Medicine contact number, waiting the usual 10-15 minutes on hold, and asked that they send a message to the clinic to get in touch with my pharmacy, as I was nearly out of medication. The representative said she would mark it as urgent, but that I should allow 72 hours for the message to get through, excluding weekend days (it was Friday).

So, the weekend goes by, and I taper my dosage to try and make the medication last until Monday. I call the pharmacy; this time they tell me the doctor's office has denied my prescription. I call UNTHSC (another 10+ minutes on hold); the rep can't reach anyone at the clinic, but says she'll send another urgent message. I tell her that I've taken my last dose of medication.

At no point have I heard from UNTHSC (and yes, they have my contact info). Not when they apparently denied the prescription, and not at any time after that.

This is the second time I've gone through this process in the course of three years; the first time I had to go through their customer complaints process to get a resolution, and it looks like that may be the case again.

You know what else I did today? I made an appointment with a new doctor, not at UNTHSC.

I'm not sure what to think yet! I haven't been to a Dr. in 14 yrs. I have anxiety, that was very evident upon 1st visit. He wouldn't prescribe meds 'til my labs... came back...O.K., I get that. Then he wants to set my next appt. for a well woman exam & go over labs. Well, at this 2nd appt. yesterday, he didn't go over all labs. I was very much in anxiety & panic mode, but he said I was just hyperventilating, but did nothing for me, just carried on with the most excruciating pap smear I've ever had. It was nothing like it was 14 yrs. ago. I screamed at him to get it out of there! He just said: "we're almost done"! He wouldn't even explain why it was hurting me so bad. I've never had that painful of a pap smear before, ever!!! I wish I'd chose a female!!! I left the office crying, anxious, panicky, dizzy, hands, feet, lip, tingly & numb, confused, etc. That's enough isn't it? I thought I was having a stroke! AND, ONLY RECEIVED A SCRIPT FOR AN INHALER...come on the Dr., the nurses, everybody there new I was a mess, but still nothing to help my immediate problem!!! I've only been waiting to get some help for 4 yrs. & they know that!!! I'm just giving up on the whole health care system. The way my body feels & how my head feels, I'll be dead before I get the help I need. I know my body & what needs to be addressed first, but no, the Dr. knows better!!!!!! Or they have to follow some idiotic rules!!! Feeling more alone, scared & hopeless, than ever, since my visit yesterday! Otherwise it was just awesome! The girls were very patient with me. See More

The facility is fine. My complaint is that the wait to see the doctor is ridiculous. My daughter's appointment was at 3:45. A student doctor finally came in at 4:40 then her regular doctor showed at 5:10. Really?? Who sets these ridiculous appointments up?

The doctors do not take proper care of you. I went to a heart doctor/ Dr. Vaughan, and the heart monitor a friend was supposed to ship in through Fed ex but did...n't get around to it, Dr. Vaughan pretended to read me the results when he didn't even have the monitor, telling me there was nothing wrong. My other Dr. Thinks due to the extreme acid that I'm having, it may have something to do with the heart. I wake up feeling like I'm having a heart attack, from the acid. I'm having further test, where as he wasn't interested in even proceding with any other tests. When I seen an allergist/Dr fling, he said I had no allergies, so I retested at North Richland Hills ENT (an awesome place)and I have so many allergies, that I have to have allergy shot every week. I went on a school anatomyfield trip to the UNT Health Science Center and hands down, the best field trip I've ever been to! So much going on and everything is just attention catching! Learned a lot more into depth about anatomy and I would definitely would LOVE to visit again!

I selected the UNT Health Science Center for Women's Health (Alliance location) when I became pregnant and had a terrible experience there. They sent me to ano...ther location for my sonogram and never called me with the sono results. Even after my daughter was diagnosed with the whooping cough and I called them for help, I still didn't get a call back. After never hearing back from anyone, I was forced to select a new doctor at a whole new company. What should have been a special experience turned into a very frustrating nightmare. Now I'm stuck with medical bills and never got any results. See More

The Best Medical School! I'm a 1995 graduate, when it took Part 3, I had to go to West Va. because I was in Va. doing my residency. I was amazed when I was talking to the other post graduates how superior our education was at TCOM!
