The University of California sued the Trump administration Friday for rescinding protections for immigrant students without legal status, saying the action unconstitutionally violates their rights on “nothing more than unreasoned executive whim.”

Two Huntington Beach police officers were injured by their own gunfire Thursday as they confronted a knife-wielding man, authorities say.

The officers had responded about 7 a.m. to a report of a man slashing tires in the 2000 block of Delaware Street, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating the shooting.

It’s been two days since a California Highway Patrol officer fatally shot a man who appeared to threaten bystanders with a weapon inside the Ronald Reagan State Building, and the man’s family say they are still struggling to understand the man’s actions.

CHP investigators say that for reasons that still remain unclear, Timothy Elam, 42, followed an employee into the building just after 6 a.m.

A Northern California man came home early this week to find a woman sleeping naked in his bed after she had broken into his house, the Anderson Police Department said.

Michelle Watkins, 33, of Junction City was arrested and booked Tuesday on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and petty theft.
