Florida Department of Health Mission: To promote and protect the health and safety of all people in Florida.

Welcome to the Florida Emergency Health Volunteer Registry, the Florida Department of Health online system for health care professionals and other private volunteers. More importantly, thank you for taking this first step in volunteering to support our vision -- A healthier future for the people of Florida.

Your volunteerism is important to support local needs -- both in maintaining a community's health and responding to disasters. Volunteer support is needed for community activities such as mass immunization events and health screenings, or responding after a disaster strikes with manpower support. As a volunteer, you can choose how you want to volunteer and what commitment you are able to make. The choice is yours on how you want to volunteer.

To become a volunteer, here is an outline of the application process:

  • Complete the online application.
  • Next, you will be contacted by a representative who will interview you to determine your volunteer interests.
  • You will need to complete additional paperwork that provides worker's compensation and liability protection for when you volunteer.
  • After, you should expect to complete an orientation and be invited to training programs that will prepare you as a disaster support volunteer.

These important steps help the Florida Department of Health determine individual skill and ability for creating local volunteer teams.

After the application process is complete, volunteers receive the following benefits:

  • Support with liability protection and worker's compensation when serving as part of a Health and Medical - Emergency Support Function 8 Team during an emergency response or other public health activity
  • Training, continuing education, and resources that support your volunteer interests at no cost
  • Email notification when your license is to be renewed.
