Chicago Study Tour

This 3 credit hour course is designed to engage students in an intense study of the Hospitality Industry in a location very relevant to the field.  Chicago, visited in conjunction with the National Restaurant Association Show, serves as a prime venue for those pursuing careers in Hospitality.  Students will experience varied aspects of the industry through tours, attendance at the NRA Show, and trips to a number of corporate headquarters, hotels, city clubs, and special events venues including museums located throughout the Chicago area.  A special focus will be on working with a unionized hospitality workforce and the effects of collective bargaining.

The class consists of three on-campus meetings prior to travel, the trip to Chicago, admission to the NRA Show, industry appointments, and other tourism activities during the week spent in the city.  A special note: all students will be required to work the UNT booth (and/or our sponsor’s booth) for up to a total of six hours during the show (details to be determined based on final class enrollment).
