Biography

Govind S. Iyer is currently the Hershel Anderson Endowed Professor of Taxation at the University of North Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Statistics Degree from Bombay University (India), and his Master of Taxation and PhD in accounting degrees from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. He is an associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has also passed the U.S. CPA exam from the state of Arizona. Before joining UNT, Govind was a faculty member at Arizona State University and at Louisiana State University. He has taught courses in individual taxation, corporate taxation, tax research, auditing, accounting information systems, enterprise process analysis, managerial accounting, management control, strategic innovation and cost management, decision support systems and cyber law. He has also published an SAP supplement for an Intermediate Accounting textbook (Harper, Hartman, Knoblett and Reckers), and two interactive CDs for managerial accounting with SAP R/3. Govind is a summer Visiting Professor at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, one of the top-ranked business schools in Europe, where he teaches in the International MBA and Executive MBA programs and where he has won several teaching accolades. He is also a summer Visiting Professor at the Mysore Royal Academy School of Business in India.
 
Govind’s primary research interests include audit pricing and quality, tax compliance and policy, and managerial decision making. He has published articles in a variety of journals such as the National Tax Journal, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of the American Taxation Association, Journal of the Association of Information Systems, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, and Advances in Accounting. He has also presented numerous papers at leading accounting and information systems conferences. 
  
Govind’s other interests include classical music (western and international), reading, cooking, and gathering new experiences.
