Post Production Support Planning

To achieve maximum, affordable readiness throughout a system's life cycle, careful planning is required prior to, during, and beyond production. Post-Production Support Planning (PPSP) occurs primarily during system development. PPSP is a joint endeavor shared by government and industry. To assist the acquisition community in PPSP, the Joint Service Guide for Aviation Post Production Support Planning (PPSP), dated October 1997, was created. Additional tools designed to assist program managers and logistics professionals prepare integrated logistics support and supportability planning documentation can also be found at the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) Tools site.  DoD 4140.1-R, (Chapter 3, pp 75-79) also provides post production support planning information as it relates to Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS). Further information related to obsolescence planning, DMSMS, and technology insertion can be found on the Obsolescence & DMSMS DAU Logistics Community of Practice site.
